GM Plans To Use Tesla’s Charging Network For Its Upcoming EVs In 2025

General Motors (GM) has announced plans to use Tesla’s charging network for its upcoming electric vehicles (EVs), following in the footsteps of Ford, which made a similar announcement earlier this year.

Leveraging Tesla’s charging infrastructure will help GM to overcome one of the biggest hurdles that EVs face: range anxiety.

By allowing its customers to use Tesla’s extensive network of Superchargers, GM hopes to provide a more convenient and accessible charging experience, which should help to boost consumer confidence in EVs. The move also underscores the growing importance of charging infrastructure in the EV market, and highlights the need for greater collaboration between automakers and charging providers.

GM, like Ford, will begin installing a charging port used by Tesla, known as NACS, instead of the current industry-standard CCS, in its EVs starting in 2025.

Under the deal, GM vehicles will be able to access 12,000 of Tesla’s fast chargers using an adapter and the Detroit automaker’s EV charging app, starting next year.

This deal was announced by Barra and Elon Musk on Twitter Spaces during a live audio discussion on . It comes as GM ramps up production of its fully electric vehicles in pursuit of Tesla-level sales volumes in the segment.
